As most are getting ready to see in the New Year with friends, family and loved ones we thought there was still time to get one last thankyou in before Big Ben and Auld Lang Syne take centre stage for the end of 2023 and the start of 2024.
It’s been a lot of hard work and effort from the team in our first year as an organisation to get off the ground and start helping the community in the places that’s needed. It’s meant taking time to listen, engage and embrace the community, its local authority and other more experienced organisations, already doing amazing things. But there is always room for improvement, always more collaborative ways of making a difference; making Swale a better place to live.
Over the last few weeks we have had the pleasure of meeting up with the 4th Milton Regis (St Marys) Cubs to explain what we do and who we help. We have distributed donated clothes to SatedaCharity‘s Kent & Medway Community Sharewear scheme; donated toys, books and games to Swale Children’s Centres with the help of Sittingbourne Morrisons Community. Distributed 18 festive food parcels, sacks of presents and gifts to households and families across Swale with the help of mhs homes group, Kent Science Park, Rebecca Beaney, Sittingbourne, Milton & District Scouts, The Jenny Wren, Axis Europe, BJL Electrical and Property Services, Sittingbourne Morrisons Community.
All this whilst having our busiest month of delivering food parcels to those in need.
We think its worth reflecting on our last 6 months:
156 food parcels delivered in Swale
391 people fed (48% of which are under 18 yrs old)
distribution of 1.7 tonnes of food
supported residents in 19 of Swales 24 districts
So a MASSIVE Thankyou to those that have inspired, helped, contributed, guided and motivated us to give something back to the place where we live. Together we can make a difference.
We are looking forward to several new projects to help the community in 2024; working with those we have met and have supported us in 2023, whilst excited to make new acquaintances, new partnerships, new ideas in 2024
So from the team at Swale community have a fantastic New Year and wishing you all the very best in 2024.
