I have deliberately avoided the risk of any April Fools pranks with the timing of this update! So no false news or windups – just an honest reflection of the teams great efforts.
The month has seen 38 food parcels delivered, 103 people fed and 559kg of food distributed. This included a record of 14 referrals in the one month. A brand new thankyou to Trevor Williams for continuing to work hard to provide this service . I don’t know what we would do without his commitment and humour. Fingers crossed for the Mayor’s Civic Award shortlisting this month.
Much of the work this month has been behind the scenes with many of our governing documents needing their first annual review.
Thankyou to the team at FareShare. Following on from last months visit to Seashells Children & Families Centre, Sheerness we have been working with the Fareshare Kent team on additional ways in which we can strengthen our food donation supplies and provide a better service to our beneficiaries.
It was our first month of supporting Sittingbourne, Milton & District Scouts with cardboard donations. We try to make sure that we recycle what we can but its even better when other local groups can benefit from our green habit’s. The Scouts get reimbursed for cardboard donations which in turn supports the annual running costs of their vehicles. So with two cardboard donations made in the month its a win win for all involved.
Another first was our volunteers helping out at St. Michael’s Church – Sittingbourne Friday breakfast club. Great to see what other community groups are providing in the way of services and that we can support to ensure that these schemes continue. Feel free to pop in every Friday 08:30 to 10:00am
A BIG well done to our Volunteer Amanda Marsh for successfully passing her Food Hygiene level 2 many thanks to Swale Community and Voluntary Services for running the course and for making it available to our volunteers. For our other volunteers that weren’t able to attend this course – don’t worry we will get you on the next one.
So a great month of collaboration with new parties and continuation of established working relationships we have the following thankyou’s to share:
– The Allen Lane Foundation for their grant award. This will secure our home delivery services over the next 12 months. Thankyou
– Sittingbourne Morrisons Community / Charlotte for the continued foodbank support.
– Aldi Sheerness for their food donations – the fresh fruit and veg are a great addition to our food parcels.
– Luke at Sheppey Graphics for doing another great job with our latest donation pot labelling.
– Rachel Adams for the GDPR management support and guidance.
– to all those small businesses, individuals and families that we have thanked personally on our group page – thankyou for your caring support.
