The 1st to 7th June was National Volunteers Week.
A chance to take time out to recognise the amazing contribution volunteers make to communities and groups across the country. An unpaid but essential army of people who week in, week out donate their time, smiles and care to help others. Not for recognition but to support others in their community or in need.
By definition this selflessness is worthy of celebrating.
So for those that support us, support our collaborative project at Heather House Community Cafe, donate, fundraise, spread the word or enable those that volunteer to do so – a massive thankyou for all that you do.

Volunteers past, present and future you should be proud for helping make someone else’s life that little bit better, more enjoyable, combat loneliness, hunger or feeling of desperation. It truly does mean the world and should never be ignored in the difference it makes.
It is hard to quantify the full benefit you bring to our community but as a little headline reminder of your efforts over the last year:
– 43 volunteers regularly supporting our community
– 10,767 hours donated in volunteering
– 4,504 hot drinks served
– 1,997 low cost hot meals cooked
– 373 pay it forward helping hands
– 441 local group sessions welcomed and supported
– 349 Emergency food parcels distributed
What you do every week makes a difference and you should be so proud of what you continue to achieve and the difference you make.
